MMI’s Boussom and Tougas Downed in Doubles Semifinal, 8-6

Meridian, MS—Marion Military Institute's Danny Boussom and Kai Tougas, seeded No. 2 in the doubles field at the 2017 ITA/Oracle Southern Regional Doubles Championship, were upset by the No. 3-seeded doubles tandem of Will Swindoll and Lachlan Ivulich, 8-6, in a very close contest on Friday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.

The match featured the strong net play of Swindoll and Ivulich and the tenacious play of Boussom and Tougas.

"The match was settled by a handful of points," said coach Charles Wright.  "We had the match in our hands, but on several occasions, we went for way too much on several easy put-aways and came up empty.  That essentially was the difference between us winning and losing.  It was a matter of a few points and a few inches.  That was a very tight match, and it could have easily gone either way."

The men's team returns to MMI to host Gadsden State Community College in a 1:00 p.m. match on Saturday, October 7, at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.
