Tigers Fall to Warriors, 6-3, in Men’s Tennis

Marion, AL—The MMI Tigers put up a good fight on Friday afternoon at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex but, despite the fine effort, fell to the Warriors of East Central Community College, 6-3.

MMI's No. 1 doubles team of Isaiah Polk and Barry Booth lost a close decision to East Central's Tom Langelaar and Joseph Jabour, 8-6, and MMI's No. 2 doubles team of Andrew Carey and Harrison Foster lost an even closer contest to East Central's John Jimenez and Will Stewart, 9-8 (4).

The Tigers fought back in singles, winning three of the top four singles matches.  Isaiah Polk played some superlative tennis, downing Langelaar, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.  Barry Booth lost a hard-fought match at No. 2 singles to John Jimenez, 6-3, 7-6 (4).  Andrew Carey played a fine match and won, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.  And Harrison Foster rounded out the scoring for MMI with his 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.

The Tigers will host Gadsden State Community College in an Alabama Community College Conference match on Saturday, Feb. 11.  The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
