MMI’s Boussom Loses in Semifinal Match; Booth and Polk Go 2-1

Livingston, AL—The Marion Military Institute Tigers unveiled all new faces in their lineup on Sunday at West Alabama's USTA Campus Challenge. Danny Boussom, Barry Booth, John Hunter, Isaiah Polk, Andrew Carey, and Josiah Davis competed well against teams from Meridian Community College, East Central Community College, and the University of West Alabama.

Boussom reached the semifinal round of the Red Flight bracket by defeating Meridian's Taylor Champion, 6-1, and West Alabama's Christopher Wood, 6-2. Julius Kaverinen, of West Alabama, defeated Boussom in their semifinal meeting, 6-3.

Booth fought back from an opening-round loss to West Alabama's Wood to down two East Central players in the consolation bracket, 6-2 and 6-0.

Polk, on the other hand, won his first-round match, 6-0, in the White Flight bracket before suffering a second-round loss to Anton Ivanov, an independent player. Polk rounded out the afternoon with a 6-0 win.

The Tigers head home to play the Meridian Community College Eagles in a 1:00 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 16.
