Men’s Tennis Downs Sun Chiefs; Women’s Tennis Loses to Lady Sun Chiefs

Bay Minette, AL—The Tigers capitalized on a pair of walkover wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles and then added five more match wins to the day's haul to score a 7-2 win over the Faulkner State Community College Sun Chiefs, while the Lady Tigers picked up three points by Stella Fedele at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0), Alex Kempf at No. 2 singles (7-6 [4], 6-2), and Kempf and Victoria Johnson at No. 1 doubles (7-5, 5-7, 10-8) in a losing cause to the Lady Sun Chiefs.

The two men's doubles matches went down to the wire, with the Tigers' duo of Ben Lee and Blake McDonald at No. 2 doubles pulling out a thrilling 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win and the Sun Chiefs' No. 3 doubles team outlasting MMI's Xavier Bell and Max Holloway, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8.

In singles play, MMI captured flights 3 through 6.  Andrew Wright at No. 3 singles defeated  Andre Li, 6-4, 6-2, Xavier Bell at No. 4 singles blanked Bryan Cochran, 6-0, 6-0, Ben Lee at No. 5 singles bested Robert Talmage, 6-4, 6-2, and Shane McDonough snuck by Bryan Cochran, 0-6, 6-3, 10-7.  Max Holloway at No. 2 singles put up a spirited fight before losing his match, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will now participate in the Alabama Community College Conference tournament at the Jimmy Johns Tennis Center in Point Mallard Park in Decatur, AL, on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16.
