MMI Tigers and Lady Tigers Down Stillman College Tigers and Lady Tigers in Cat Fight

Marion, AL—The MMI Tiger and Lady Tiger tennis squads defeated their counterparts from Stillman College in Saturday afternoon matches at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex.  The MMI Lady Tigers downed the Stillman College Lady Tigers, 4-1, in a match that featured three defaults by the visitors and a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles by Stella Fedele.  In the men's match, the MMI Tigers disposed of the Stillman College Tigers, 7-2.

MMI's Blake McDonald and Shane McDonough blanked Stillman's Roosevelt White and Harold Ingram, 8-0, at No. 2 doubles, while MMI's No. 1 doubles team of Adam Bahney and Andrew Wright lost to Stillman's Bastian Sanson and Yonwaba Pupuma, 8-6.  The MMI pair of Xavier Bell and Max Holloway won by default.

In singles play, MMI and Stillman College split eight-game pro-sets at the top two singles spots, with Sanson beating MMI's Bahney, 8-4, and MMI's Wright besting Pupuma, 8-5.  Other MMI singles points belonged to Xavier Bell at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-1), Max Holloway at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-0), McDonald at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-0), and McDonough at No. 6 singles by default.

The MMI Tigers head down Highway 5 to take on the Mississippi College Choctaws at the University of Mobile in a 2:00 p.m. match on Sunday, March 6.  The MMI Lady Tigers will resume play after Spring Break.  They will take on the Faulkner State Lady Sun Chiefs in a home match at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23.
