Marion, AL—The Marion Military Institute Tigers took to their home courts on Sunday afternoon to play the visiting Gadsden State Community College Cardinals and came away with an 8-1 win, scoring two doubles points and six singles points on the day.

In doubles action, the Tigers claimed two of the three matches, squeaking out a close three-setter at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-7 (7), 10-7, and taking No. 3 doubles, 6-3, 6-2.

"Harrison Foster and Andrew Wright played some fine doubles in the first set of their match," said head coach Chuck Wright, "but then they had to outlast the Gadsden pair in a tiebreaker for the second set and the super tiebreaker for the third.  Xavier Bell and Max Holloway, on the other hand, played solid tennis throughout their match to win in straight sets."

The Tigers then dominated singles play with wins by Adam Bahney at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-0), Harrison Foster at No. 2 singles (6-3, 6-3), Andrew Wright at No. 3 singles (6-1, 6-4), Xavier Bell at No. 4 singles ((4-6, 6-4, 10-8), Ben Lee at No. 5 singles (6-0, 6-3), and Shane McDonough at No. 6 singles (4-6, 6-4, 10-6).

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, March 5 when the Stillman College Tigers visit the MMI campus for a 1:00 p.m. match.
