Former Tiger Doubles Player Morgan Hale Lands on West Point Roster

West Point, NY—When Morgan Hale wielded his tennis racket for the Marion Military Institute Tigers last year, he was more of a magician than a tennis player because he could make his volleys disappear.  He had the uncanny knack of being able to hit crisp, well-struck volleys into the narrowest of spaces, at the opposing net man's feet, and between the players on the other side of the net.

Hale's extraordinary volleying skills propelled him and his partner, Andrew Wright, to the 2014 Southern JUCO USTA/ITA Small College Regional Doubles Championship and the 2015 Alabama Community College Conference Flight #1 Doubles Championship. 

Hale's superb volleying skills and solid ground game have now landed him on the West Point tennis roster.

"I was always impressed with the way Morgan could plant a volley," said MMI head tennis coach Charles Wright.  "He wasn't flashy at all.  He was just a wall at the net.  The harder you hit the ball at him, the harder he returned it.  He could hit that volley clean, crisp, and sharp every time.  His volleys were textbook perfect."

Wright concluded by saying, "In Morgan Hale, West Point's tennis team has added a fine athlete, a good student, and a great young man to its squad."
