Wright and Foster Best the Doubles Field to Win ITA Regional Championship

Meridian, MS—MMI's Andrew Wright, a sophomore from Dallas, TX, and Harrison Foster, a freshman from Hewitt, TX, bedazzled and befuddled the doubles field at the 2015 Southern JUCO USTA/ITA Small College Regional Championship by reeling off four straight wins and beating fellow teammates Adam Bahney and Max Holloway in the final, 6-1, 6-3.

Wright and Foster plowed through the doubles draw with relative ease.  Teams from Meridian Community College (8-1), East Central Community College (8-3), and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (8-4) fell to the talented twosome from Texas.

"Andrew and Harrison played rock-solid doubles throughout the tournament," said MMI head tennis coach Charles Wright.  "They struck the ball well on all fronts—serves, volleys, overheads, and ground strokes.  Those two just click on all cylinders when they play together.  They have great team chemistry and rapport.  They exemplify what doubles is all about."

With their doubles championship in hand, Wright and Foster punched their ticket to the 2015 USTA/ITA National Small College Championship, which will be held at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, SC, from Thursday, Oct. 15 through Sunday, Oct. 19.
