Men’s Tennis Blanks Tougaloo College and Rust College, 5-0, in First Day of Action at the Stillman College Invitational Tennis Tournament

Tuscaloosa, AL—The MMI men's tennis team dominated play against Rust College and Tougaloo College on the first day of action at the Stillman College Invitational Tennis Tournament on Friday at the Stillman College Tennis Complex, defeating the Rust College Bearcats in the morning match, 5-0, and then sweeping the Tougaloo College Bulldogs in the afternoon match, 5-0.

In the opening-round match against Rust College, the Tigers controlled play from the first serve to the last, winning all but two games in the five matches played.  Kaiser De Leon, Morgan Hale, Andrew Wright, Patrick Ryder, and Javier de Claire picked up the wins for the Tigers.

Spearheaded by the outstanding play of De Leon, Hale, Wright, Ryder, and de Claire, the Tigers continued to overwhelm the opposition in the afternoon match as well.  They defeated the Bulldogs, 5-0.

The Tigers will round out play in the Stillman College Invitational Tennis Tournament with two more matches on Saturday, April 4.  Fisk College will be the first opponent of the day in an 11:30 a.m. match, and host Stillman College will provide the opposition in the 2:00 p.m. match.
