Tigers Defeat Cardinals, 7-2, in NJCAA Region XXII Play

Marion, AL—The Tigers confronted the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon at the Paul B. Anderson Tennis Complex and came away with a 7-2 win.  The Tigers almost swept play in doubles but came up just short, as the Cardinal tandem of Jordan Youngblood and Michael Bizilia staved off a match point and went on to win a nail-biter over the MMI duo of Patrick Ryder and Marty Birchmeier, 9-8 (10).  The Tigers claimed five of the six singles matches.

The Tigers' doubles teams of Morgan Hale/Andrew Wright (8-4) and Kaiser De Leon/Javier de Claire (8-5) vaulted the Tigers into a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the afternoon concluded.

In singles play, the Tigers ratcheted up play and scored wins on courts 1 through 5:  De Leon (6-2, 6-1), Hale (6-1, 6-1), Wright (6-2, 6-3), Ryder (6-3, 6-2), and de Claire (6-0, 6-2).

The Tigers remain at home to play the Tigers of Stillman College in a 1:00 p.m. match on Tuesday, March 3.
