MMI Men’s Tennis Team Finishes 17th in the Nation in Final 2014 ITA Poll

Skillman, NJ—The final 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) men's tennis rankings have been posted, and the Marion Military Institute men's tennis team distinguished itself by placing a respectable 17th in the team standings.

The Tiger tennis team was led by sophomore standout Romar Hernandez and a trio of talented freshmen (Kaiser De Leon, Jake McDonough, and Javier de Claire).

In the final ITA singles rankings (which ranked 75 players), De Leon and Hernandez both finished in the top 20 nationally, with De Leon placing 18th and Hernandez, 20th.

The ITA also ranked 40 doubles teams, and MMI was able to land two of its doubles teams in this select field.  The No. 1 doubles team of Hernandez/McDonough finished in the 30th slot, while the No. 2 doubles team of De Leon/de Claire claimed the 31st spot.

Congratulations to the men's tennis team on a fine season!
