Men's Tennis Playing Well at National Tournament
With play resuming this morning at 8:00 a.m. at the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament, there are plenty of Marion players still in the mix. After two days, here are the latest results:
No. 1 singles--Kaiser De Leon (MMI) d. Srdja Nikolic (Prairie State College in Illinois)--6-3, 6-1 (Main Draw); Vasil Surduk (Seminole State College in Oklahoma) d. Kaiser De Leon (MMI)--6-1, 6-2 (Main Draw); Kaiser De Leon has been eliminated. He scored two team points for MMI.
No. 2 singles--Romar Hernandez (MMI) d. Harrison Reed (Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina)--7-6 (4), 6-7 (5), 7-5 (Main Draw); Romar Hernandez (MMI) d. Austin McElwain (Itawamba Community College in Mississippi)--6-4, 6-3 (Main Draw). Hernandez, the No. 8-seeded player in Flight 2 singles, plays the No. 2-seeded player, Edmundo Ulloa from Vincennes University in Indiana, on Wednesday. Hernandez has scored three team points for MMI so far.

Chris Mallette (Meridian Community College in Mississippi)--8-1 (Back Draw); Jake McDonough is still alive in the back draw and has scored half a point for MMI so far.
