Tigers Pick up Big Win at Home

Marion, AL. – Double-doubles by Nicholas Cham (13 points, 10 assists) and Tyrone Wright (15 points, 13 rebounds) helped the MMI men's basketball team defeat the Coyotes of Coastal Alabama Community College-North yesterday by a score of 79-64. Marion will close out the regular season on the road at Snead State Community College Thursday, February 22.

The Coyotes took the opening tip and scored the first points of the game before Tyrone Wright hit a jumper from the free throw line to even the score. Coa-North hit a three-pointer on their next possession, but Jaylen Carrington scored two, and Aidan Driggers hit a three-pointer from the top of the key to give MMI their first lead, a lead they would not relinquish. The Coyotes cut the lead to two points but after the first media timeout the Tigers put together a run and built a double-digit lead with under two minutes to play in the first half. Johnathon Crawford hit a three-pointer and then connected for a mid-range jumper; Tigers were up 38-26 at halftime.

Marion took their first possession of the second half and Cham found Jaylen Carrington on the wing for a three-pointer and the home team took control of the game. Coa-North tried to put together a couple of runs but could not get any closer than 14 points.  Carrington led the Tigers with 27 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. Johnathon Crawford added 13 points off the bench while Jahmar Brown, Dashley Estime, and Driggers each scored three points for Marion.
