Tigers Top Enterprise State at Home

Marion, AL. – The MMI Tigers defeated the Boll Weevils of Enterprise State Community College 100-79 behind six double figure scorers. Jaylen Carrington led Marion with 23 points while Johnathon Crawford added 15 points off the bench. Jamarion Ezell and Dashley Estime each scored 13 points while Nicholas Cham, MMI's point guard, dished out six assists with 10 points. Tyrone Wright added another double-double to his resume; 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Tigers will host Coastal Alabama CC-North in a key ACCC re-match this Thursday, February 15. Tip-off for Thursday's contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

After securing the opening tip, Marion missed their first scoring opportunity and quickly found themselves trailing ESCC. The Tigers clawed their way back to tie the game for the first time four and a half minutes into the first half after Jaylen Carrington hit a three-pointer from the left wing. The Boll Weevils took the lead back until the 7:48 mark when Tyrone Wright was fouled on a dunk attempt. After making both free throws, the Tigers held their first lead at 23-22. Both teams traded baskets before a left corner three-pointer by Dashley Estime and a mid-range jumper by Crawford gave Marion a 37-33 advantage at halftime.

Marion came out of the intermission and built a double-digit lead, 49-39, within the first few minutes. At the 8:28 mark, the Tigers had extended their lead to twenty, 76-56, as Jamarion Ezell connected on two from the charity stripe. ESCC put together a couple of runs but could not get any closer than 12 before MMI cruised to the win.
