Tigers Drop a Close One to the Bucs
Marion, AL. - The MMI men's basketball team held a double digit lead at halftime but could not hold on as the Bucs from Shelton State CC took a 66-63 victory yesterday evening at the William R. Ireland Athletic Center. Josue Passius led Marion with 12 points. He was followed by Jacorey Turnipseed who finished with 11 points. Also scoring for MMI were: Joshua Rathell (9), Quavon Blackwood (9), Ladarius Carter (8), Mark Bradwell (7), and Stacy Burse (1).
With three games remaining in the season the Tigers are still in the hunt for postseason play. The top two teams in each league (North/South) will earn first round byes while third through sixth seeds will face a play-in game.
At 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the tough ACCC North, Marion will have to travel to Boaz, Alabama next Monday to take on Snead State CC and then to Birmingham, AL to take on Lawson State CC. Monday, February 25, MMI will honor the sophomores before their last home game. That game versus Gadsden State will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. Ireland Athletic Center.
