Pate Oakley Selected Best All-Around Cadet

Pate Oakley, a member of the MMI men's basketball team, was selected as the Best All Around Cadet at the 2018 Honors Convocation.  This award is presented annually to the cadet who has excelled in academic endeavors, extracurricular activities, and leadership responsibilities.

Pate also earned the COL Thomas H. Williams Award for the student-athlete that has maintained the highest grade point average and the Judge Irby Pope Award for Sportsmanship.  The Judge Irby Pope Awards for Sportsmanship was first presented in 1927 and is awarded to the student-athlete that best exemplifies the definition of a true sportsman or sportswoman.  Head basketball coach, Philip Stitt, "Pate Oakley epitomizes the definition of a sportsman.  He consistently shows great character, teamwork, respect and has never had a day at MMI without a positive outlook.  Pate has made more of an impact on us than we have had on him.  We are proud to have coached him and are lucky to have him as a part of our MMI family.  He will always be our example of what being a true MMI Tiger truly is."
