Tigers Drop Third Straight ACCC North Game
Marion, AL. - The MMI men's basketball team fell to 5-5 in the ACCC North after dropping their third straight ACCC North game at home against Snead State Commuity College, 59-70.
Marion held a 38-33 lead at halftime. The Parsons took their first lead at the 14:45 mark in the second half behind back-to-back-to-back three point baskets. The lead extended to double digits several times as MMI could not get stops on the defensive end. Sophomore Charles Tripp led the Tigers with 23 points and five rebounds.
Marion, 18-6 overall, is in a three-way tie for fourth place in the ACCC North. The struggling Tigers have two ACCC North games remaining - Thursday at Wallace State Community College and then home Monday evening versus Lawson State. Although Marion has earned a right to play in the postseason, they are in a dogfight with Wallace State, Gadsden State, and Snead State to host a play-in game.
The top two teams in the ACCC North and South receive byes to the postseason tournament, with the #6 seed traveling to facing #3 in the opposite league (North vs. South); #5 seed travels to the respective #4 seed's gym. Eight teams advance to the ACCC Tournament, March 7-10, held this year at Lawson State Community College.
