MMI Tigers - ACCC Champions!

Hanceville, AL. - The Marion Military Institute men's basketball team earned a bid to the 2016 NJCAA National Tournament after defeating Shelton State Community College 64-63 in the ACCC championship game Friday evening.  Shelton State held a 33-29 lead at halftime.

Christian Bradford, the ACCC Tournament MVP, sank one of two free throws with 1.6 seconds remaining in the game to give the Tigers the one-point edge.  Shelton State had one last look, but their half court attempt went awry, giving the first place trophy to Marion.

Bradford led the Tigers with 18 points.  Miles Perdue, Ronnie Baylark, and Charles Tripp each scored 10 points.  Tripp also grabbed six rebounds.  Chase Garvin, Marion's sophomore starting point guard, wrestled down a team high nine rebounds while adding one point on the offensive end.  Quamauri Hardy finished with five points and four rebounds as a backup to Garvin.  Also contributing the victory was Neiman Dunams (7 pts.) and Dotson Griffin (3 pts., 2 blocks, 2 rebounds).

Hardy, Perdue, and Baylark were named to the ACCC All-Tournament team.  Head coach, Philip Stitt, was named the ACCC Coach of the Year.
