Tigers Start ACCC Play with Win

Marion, AL. - Marion Military Institute started ACCC North Conference play at home, earning a win against the Bisons from Southern Union State Community College, 78-49.  Sophomore Christian Bradford led the Tigers with 20 points.  Miles Perdue had his best offensive performance of the season with 17 points, scoring 14 before halftime.  Also finishing in double digits for the home squad were Ronnie Baylark and Charles Tripp, scoring 11 points each. 

Bison sophomore Devin Pugh scored the first two points of the game, giving SUSCC a 2-0 lead, their only lead of the game.  Bradford answered with a three-point play for the Tigers to give them the 3-2 lead, a lead that would grow to double digits early in the contest.  The Bisons were held to single digits until the 5:31 mark, with MMI holding a 28-11 advantage. The lead quickly ballooned to twenty points with a few minutes remaining in the half.  Sophomore Dotson Griffin kept the momentum on Marion's side with a putback dunk at the buzzer.  Marion held a 43-21 lead at the break.

The second half proved to be much of the same for the Tigers as they built the lead to 30 at the 11:53 mark.  Griffin finished with nine points for Marion, now 12-3 on the season and 1-0 in the ACCC North.  Quamauri Hardy scored six while teammates Aaron Anthony and Mike Nobles each contributed two points in the victory.

The Tigers will travel to Boaz, Alabama Thursday evening to face Snead State Community College
