Tigers Dominate Warhawks at Home, Improve to 3-0

Marion, AL. – The Marion Military Institute men's basketball team pulled away early in the first half and never let the Warhawks from Jeff Davis Community College back in the game to earn an 82-50 win at home Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Ronnie Baylark led all scorers with 22 points.

With the win, the Tigers improve their record to 3-0.

Marion's sophomore Christian Bradford would post 19 points. Freshman Quamauri Hardy contributed 10 points and four steals.

MMI jumped out early to start the game and had the lead into double digits halfway through the first half behind a hot shooting night. Although the Warhawks tried to put together several runs, Marion never allowed JDCC to get any closer.  Marion took a 47-26 lead into halftime.  The lead grew in the second half and the Tigers held a 33 point lead with just eight minutes remaining in the game.  The Tigers finished shooting 68% from the field compared to 28% from Jeff Davis.

Charles Tripp and Miles Perdue each grabbed five rebounds for Marion.  Also scoring for the home squad were: Tripp (8), Michael Nobles (5), Neiman Dunams (5), Perdue (4), Chase Garvin (4), Anthony Pierre-Louis (4), and Aaron Anthony (1).

The Tigers travel to Stillman College (Tuscaloosa, AL) Tuesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off at the Birthright Gymnasium before returning home to host Point University Thursday evening.  Thursday's tip is also scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the William R. Ireland Athletic Center.
