MMI Athletic Department to Sponsor Annual Food Drive

Marion, AL. – The Marion Military Institute Athletic Department will hold their annual canned/non-perishable food drive starting Tuesday, December 2, at the men's basketball game against Wallace State Community College-Selma (tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.).  The food drive will continue through December 9, when the Tigers play host to Bishop State Community College at 7:00 p.m. Last year, over 360 pounds of food were donated to assist needy families during the holidays.

All fans will receive free admission to the games with a donation of one canned/non-perishable food item per person.  All donations (money and food items) will once again go to assist needy families during the holiday season.  For those unable to attend either game, a collection basket will be available in the foyer of the William R. Ireland Athletic Center.

"This project really demonstrates the core values of what MMI teaches our cadets.  We have been fortunate to sponsor this food drive for the past six years and every year we have been able to increase our donations from the year before.  It is a special time of year and we feel privileged to provide assistance to those in need during the holiday season," said Michelle Ivey, Athletic Director for MMI.
