Tigers Even Record to 2-2

The MMI men's basketball team evened its record to 2-2 after defeating Bishop State Community College and Darton State/Paramount Sports Academy last week.

Mobile, AL. - At Bishop State, the Tigers took a slim one-point lead into halftime before seeing the lead disappear early in the second half.  A three point basket by sophomore Charles Steele, Jr. put Marion up one late in the game.  Marion stole the ball on the next play and was able to connect on two free throws to give the visitors a three point lead.  Bishop had a couple looks from behind the arc but fell short in their attempt to tie the game.

Leading Marion was freshman point guard Ronnie Baylark, Jr. with 16 points.  He also dished out six assists, grabbed four rebounds and shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line.  Malik Musgrove finished right behind Balylark with 14 points and had a team high eight rebounds.  Steele and Jamareo Duggan both scored in double digits for the Tigers, with 12 and 10 points respectively.  Duggan also had seven rebounds.  Christian Bradford (7) and Dotson Griffin, Jr. (2) also got into the scoring column for Marion in the victory.

Marion, AL. - In MMI's home opener, the Tigers fought back from a 16-point deficit in the second half to claim their second victory of the year and even their overall record to 2-2.  Down 27-32 at the half, MMI fought and scrapped their way back into the game finally take the lead with a little over two minutes to play in the game.  Ronnie Baylark, Jr. once again led the Tigers with 16 points.  He grabbed four rebounds and had three steals in the win.  Miles Perdue, Jamareo Duggan, and Chase Garvin scored 12 points apiece.  Duggan led the team with eight rebounds while Perdue, Garvin, and Josh Ledbetter each grabbed seven rebounds for the home squad.  Charles Steele, Jr. finished with five points while Malik Musgrove scored four.

Marion will host Jeff Davis Community College Saturday, November 15th at the William R. Ireland Athletic Center.  A 3:30 p.m. tip-off is scheduled.
