Baseball Improves to 11-4

With two wins Friday afternoon, the MMI baseball team improved to 11-4.  They will travel to West Georgia Technical College Tuesday, February 27, and then to Shorter University Wednesday, February 28.  The first pitch each day is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.

Game 1 - MMI Defeats Faulkner University JV 7-3

Freshman Coleton Barnes earned his first win of the spring season, working only two innings on the mound.  He gave up three hits, one run, and two walks while striking out one batter.  Bradley Brown, Riley Spearman, Justin Orr, and Jacob Phillips also saw action in relief.  David Sweat went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers' offense.  Austin Garofalo, Brett Barbee, and Devne Daniel each had two hits.  Garofalo and Daniel scored once while Barbee crossed the plate twice for Marion.  Also getting hits were Caleb Squires, Matthew Marfice, and Taylor Clemmons.

Game 2 - MMI Defeats Wallace CC-Selma 11-4 in Six Innings

David Sweat's hot bat continued against the Patriots of Wallace CC.  He finished with three hits in four at-bats and two runs scored.  Matthew Marfice went 2-for-4 with four RBI.  He also scored two runs.  Jacob Presly, Caleb Squires, Taylor Clemmons, Austin Garofalo, Devne Daniel, Casey Page, and Samuel Clement all produced hits at the plate for the Tigers.  Marquez Oates earned the win and improved to 3-1.  He worked five innings, giving up five hits, one run and two walks while striking out nine batters.  Jacob Phillips threw an inning in relief, striking out a batter.
