Baseball Starts ACCC Play 1-2-1

The MMI Tigers began ACCC North play last week and came away with a 1-2-1 record after their first series against Shelton State Community College. Friday night saw MMI split a doubleheader with the Bucs; dropping game one, 7-3, and winning game two, 2-1.

Sunday afternoon Marion scattered five hits in game one to drop an 11-1 decision.  Landon Sartain, Caleb Squires, Bryan Sanderson, Logan Nix, and Robert Halcomb each had a hit.  Weston Hopkins scored MMI's only run after earning a walk.

In game two, the Tigers held a 3-2 lead into the 7th inning when Shelton State added a run to tie the game, 3-3.  That score remained through extra innings and the game was called for darkness before heading into the tenth inning.  Landon Sartain, Logan Taylor, Weston Hopkins and Phillip Lenoir had two hits each.  William Lenoir and Ryne Benson also had hits and scored for the Tigers, now 11-6-1 on the season.

Marion will host the Snead State CC Parsons Thursday for an ACCC North doubleheader before heading to Boaz Friday to complete the four game series.  First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
