Tigers Earn Split at Southern Union

Wadley, AL. - The Marion Military Institute baseball team split a doubleheader on the road at Southern Union State Community College Wednesday afternoon.  The Tigers dropped game one 2-6, and took the nightcap 4-2.

In the first game Southern Union scored one run in the first inning, three in the second and two more in the seventh inning before Marion plated two runs in the eighth inning.  Zachary Neumann finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Also collecting hits for MMI were Mason Gilliland (1-for-4; double), Logan Nix (1-for-4), and Justin Bisharat (1-for-4).  Nix and Jonah Todd scored Marions' runs. 

Blake Teel started on the mound for the Tigers in game one and worked six and one-third innings.  He scattered eight hits and allowed six runs (four earned) while walking four batters.  Dax Winningham worked two-thirds of an inning in relief striking out two batters.  Dennis Mckinley also pitched an inning in relief with one strikeout.

In game two, Blaine Milam threw seven innings as the starter, giving up five hits and two runs while striking out three batters.  Winningham and Jackson Cofer saw action in relief.

Jonah Todd, Zachary Neumann, Logan Nix, and Landon Sartain each collected hits in the game for Marion.  Todd had a double; Neumann and Sartain finished with two RBIs apiece.  Justin Bisharat, Sartain, Nix and Cofer each scored a run for MMI now 23-5-1 on the season and 4-2 in the ACCC North.

Marion and Southern Union will conclude the four game series Fridat afternoon with a doubleheader.  The first game is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
