Tigers Split Final Home Doubleheader

MARION, AL - The MMI Tigers baseball team split their final home doubleheader with Central Alabama Community College (CACC).  Marion took game one 13-1 and lost the night cap 3-1.

Game 1 MMI 13 CACC 1

Sophomore Alex Reyna ended game one early by the run-rule with a grand slam, giving the home squad a 13-1 victory.  Reyna finished 2-for-4 from the plate with 4 RBIs and two runs scored.  Steven Ward scored twice, recorded two hits including a double and an RBI in three at-bats.  Carson McGregory and Matthew Duncan each went 2-for-3.  McGregory scored three times and had an RBI.  Yancey Foster had two hits on four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.  Samuel Farley, Christopher Brannon, and Zachary Neumann also had one hit apiece for the Tigers. 

Freshman Blaine Milam earned the win for Marion.  He threw six innings, giving up four hits, one run and two walks.  Milam also struck out one Trojan batter.

Game 2  MMI 1 CACC 3

Marion scattered seven hits in game two but couldn't generate more than one run, falling to the Trojans of CACC, 3-1.  Joe Hudson got the loss for Marion.  He gave up eight hits and three runs (two earned) in five innings of work.  He also struck out four batters.

Samuel Farley and Justin Bisharat finished with two hits apiece.  Carson McGregory went 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Alex Reyna scored Marion's only  run.  Blake Teel went 1-for-1 and Zachary Neumann finished with one hit on three plate appearances.

Marion will make-up a doubleheader at Wallace State Community College-Hanceville Monday afternoon before heading into final exams.  The outcomes of these games will not impact the standings for the upcoming ACCC Conference Tournament.  Marion will head into the tournament as the #2 seeded team in the North and most likely will face Faulkner State Community College in the first round on Friday.  Brackets and tournament information will be posted later today
