MMI and Wallace-Hanceville Split in make up doubleheader

Marion, AL. - The MMI Tiger baseball team hosted the Wallace State CC Hanceville Lions in a make-up doubleheader Monday afternoon.  The home squad won the first game 4-3 with the Lions taking the nightcap 6-1.

Game One - The Lions from Wallace took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after the lead-off hitter walked and eventually scored.  Marion tied the game in the third inning, and then took a one-run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Wallace plated one run in the sixth inning and again in the eighth inning to take back the lead.  Marion scored twice in their last at-bat to claim the victory.

Sophomore Daniel Faulk started for Marion.  He pitched six innings, giving up four hits, three walks, two runs (one earned) while striking out four Lion batters.  Andrew Mask worked two innings in relief, giving up two hits and one run (none earned).  Terrance Robinson closed the game out for the Tigers, surrendering only one hit and no runs.

Carson McGregory led Marion offensively, going two-for-two with two walks and one RBI.  Zachary Neumann went one-for-three with one run scored.  Samuel Farley also finished one-for-three at the plate with one RBI and a run scored.  Steven Ward recorded an RBI on one hit in three plate appearances.  Jonah Todd, Christopher Brannon, and Blake Teel each had a hit for Marion in the win.  Todd  also scored.

Game Two - The Lions' bats came alive in game two, scoring on a solo homerun in the fourth inning and plating five more runs in the fifth inning.  Marion scored their only run in the sixth inning off the bat of Justin Bisharat.  Carson McGregory went two-for-three from the plate and scored the Tiger's run.  Zachary Neumann finished two-for-two for the Tiges, now 24-15 overall and 10-8 in the ACCC North.

The Tigers will start a four game series against Snead State Community College this Thursday afternoon at the Scott G. Davis Stadium.
