MMI Baseball Run Rules Wallace Selma

MARION, AL. -- The Marion Military Institute baseball team used a five run sixth inning to take control on the way to an 10-0 run rule win over Wallace Community College-Selma on Tuesday at the Scott G. Davis Baseball Stadium. The win improved the Tigers overall record to 18-11.

Marion got on the board first in the second inning and then added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a commanding lead against the Patriots in non-league action.  Matthew Duncan went a perfect three-for-three at the plate, driving in two runs and scoring once.  Steven Ward finished two-for-three with two RBIs.  He scored three times for the Tigers.  Jackson Cofer had two hits on four plate appearances with one RBI.  Alex Reyna, Samuel Farley, and Zachary Seagle each went one-for-three.  Reyna had one RBI, Seagle finished with three RBIs, and Farley scored twice.  Zachary Neumann and Carson McGregory each had a hit in the lopsided victory.

Freshman Blaine Milam started on the mound for Marion.  He threw one inning, giving up no hits and no runs, while walking one batter.  Freshman J. P. Ratliff pitched one inning in relief, giving up one of the two Patriots' hits.  He also registered one strikeout.  Freshman Dalton Pollard worked three innings and earned his first win.  He surrended one hit and one walk with a strikeout.  Freshman Raymond Padilla also pitched one inning, giving up no hits and walking one hitter. 

The Tigers will travel to Birmingham, Alabama this Thursday for an ACCC North conference doubleheader against Lawson State Community College before coming home to complete the four game series at home Saturday afternoon. First pitch on Thursday is set for 12:00 p.m.
