Baseball Improves to 13-7 with Sweep of Faulkner JV

Marion, AL. - The MMI baseball team swept Faulkner JV in an afternoon doubleheader yesterday, 6-5 and 14-4.

Game 1: MMI 6  Faulkner JV 5

The Tigers scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead in game one.  Faulkner plated three runs in the third, one in the fifth, and one more in the seventh inning to tie the game at five runs each.

Freshman Christopher Brannon got his only hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, driving in the winning run for Marion.  Alex Reyna and Jonah Todd went 2-for-3 from the plate, with each scoring one run.  Samuel Farley, Carson McGregory, Jackson Cofer, Blake Teel, Zachary Neumann, and Yancey Foster all recorded hits.

Sophomore Joe Hudson started on the mound for MMI.  He worked five innings, surrendering seven hits, four runs, and two walks while striking out two Eagle hitters.  Chad Robinson and Gabe Nevala pitched in relief.

Game 2: MMI 14 Faulkner JV 4

Marion pounded out 12 hits in game two to claim the lopsided victory.  Faulkner jumped out to an early 3-2 lead after one inning but the Tigers exploded for four runs in the third, two in the fourth and five more in the fifth.  Matthew Duncan led Marion at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Christopher Brannon, Jackson Cofer, and Carson McGregory each finished with two hits.  Cofer and McGregroy also had three RBIs apiece.  Jonah Todd, Samuel Farley, and Justin Bisharat also recorded hits.

Blaine Milam pitched one inning for MMI with Daniel Faulk, Chad Robinson, and Andrew Mask seeing action in relief.
