Tigers Take Doubleheader from Coahoma CC

Marion, AL. - The MMI Tigers swept Coahoma Community College yesterday afternoon, winning 5-0 and 7-2.

Game 1: MMI 5  Coahoma 0

Marion scored three runs in the first inning and plated two more in the third to capture the 5-0 victory in game one of the afternoon doubleheader.  Carson McGregory finished 2-for-2 from the plate to lead the Tiger's offense.  He scored two runs, batted in three, and earned a walk.  Alex Reyna, Jonah Todd, Samuel Farley, Jackson Cofer, and Matthew Duncan each recorded a hit for MMI.  Yancey Foster had one RBI.

Blake Teel started on the mound for MMI.  He threw five innings, giving up four hits while striking out two Coahoma hitters.  Andrew Mask and Jesse Wheeler saw action in relief.

Game 2: MMI 7 Coahoma 2

Marion scored one run in the first inning, four in the second, and two more in the fourth inning before the Tigers from Coahoma were able to get on the scoreboard.  Coahoma scored once in the sixth inning and again in the seventh before J. P. Ratliff was able to get the final out and close out game two of the doubleheader.

Alex Reyna and Matthew Parker each went 2-for-3 from the plate for Marion.  Reyna scored once and Parker twice.  Zachary Neumann finished with two hits on three plate appearances, also scoring once.  Samuel Farley, Justin Bisharat, Jackson Cofer, Christopher Brannon, Matthew Duncan, and Chase Whiddon each registered a hit.  Farley and Brannon each recorded two RBIs in the victory.

Dax Winningham surrendered one hit and a walk, while striking out one batter in five innings of work.  Austin Clay, Raymond Padilla Jr., and Jesse Wheeler also saw action on the mound for Marion.

MMI (11-7) will host Faulkner University Monday afternoon in a make-up game.  First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. due to weather.
