Baseball Earns Split in Saturday Doubleheader

Marion, Al. - Lake Land College claimed game one of Saturday's doubleheader, 7-6. Marion earned the split, winning 2-1 in game two.

Game 1: Lakers 7 Tigers 6

The Lakers held a 7-5 lead into the seventh inning in game one of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon.  Marion could only manufacture one run in the bottom of the seventh, losing the one-run contest. 

Samuel Farley and Kolby Brannon led Marion at the plate.  Farley finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.  Brannon went 2-for-3 with one run scored.  Also getting hits for the Tigers were Alex Reyna, Jonah Todd, Carson McGregory, Zachary Neumann, and Kyle Sloan.

Terrance Robinson, Dax Winningham, and Raymond Padilla Jr. saw action on the mound.  Robinson pitched 2.2 innings, surrendering three hits, three runs (one earned), one walk while striking out two batters.  Winningham threw 3.1 innings, giving up four runs (two earned).  He walked one and struck out two.  Padilla gave up no hits while walking one batter in one inning of work.

Game 2: Lakers 1 Tigers 2

Marion held a 1-0 lead into the top of the seventh inning when the Lakers rallied with one run to tie the game at 1-1.  With the Tigers having the last at-bat, Zachary Neumann came to the plate with two outs and delivered for his first hit of the game, bringing in the winning run.

Jonah Todd, Kyle Sloan, and Carson McGregory each finished with one hit each for Marion.  Samuel Farley and Alex Reyna scored MMI's two runs.

Blake Teel pitched a gem of a game for Marion, going the distance and earning the win.  He surrendered six hits, one run, and two walks while striking out two Lakers.

Marion, 9-5, will host Wallace Community College-Selma Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Scott G. Davis Stadium.
