Baseball Opens Fall Scrimmage Season with Win

The MMI Tigers opened the fall baseball season in front of a packed house with a win against Wallace State Community College – Selma by a score of 14-4.  Marion scattered 19 hits during the 14-inning contest.

Sophomore Yancey Foster went 2 for 3 from the plate with a solo homerun. Freshman Blake Teel recorded two hits in four plate appearances with two RBIs while pitching one shutout inning. Parker Farley, Carson McGregory and Zach Poticny each had two hits for the home squad.  Freshman Brant Lewis went 1 for 2 with a solo homerun.  Others collecting hits for Marion were: Steven Ward, Justin Bisharat, Alex Reyna, Zack Seagle, Dylan Henry, and Wyatt Hale.  Mel Harwell, Kolby Brannon, and Cameron Honeycutt each had RBIs in the win.

Fourteen different pitchers worked one inning apiece and combined to allow just 3 earned runs.  Those pitching shutout innings were: Joe Hudson, Jackson CoferBlaine Milam, Ray Padilla, Chad Robinson, Blake Teel, Kolby Brannon, J.P. Ratliff, Ray Beede, Micah Agee, and Jesse Wheeler

The next fall scrimmage is scheduled for Thursday, September 25th when the Tigers travel to Faulkner University (Montgomery, AL). Games are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
