MMI’s Tennis Teams Kick off Fundraising Campaign

Marion, AL—Marion Military Institute's tennis teams, in conjunction with eTeamSponsor, have embarked upon their major fundraising campaign of the season.  The Tigers and Lady Tigers' joint venture officially kicked off on Thursday, August 22.

The eTeamSponsor fundraiser's primary purpose is to raise money for the teams' travel expenses, with a view to also allocating funds to much-needed necessities such as tennis balls, score cards, team uniforms, tournament fees, etc.

The Tigers have collected six Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Tennis Championships in the last 11 years, and the Lady Tigers have laid claim to one, in 2017, when Paola Bou and Company went undefeated in conference play and finished with a top-10 national ranking of #9. Bou was named to the 2017 ITA All-America Team; to date, she is the only player from MMI in either men's or women's singles to be so named.  She finished ranked sixth in the nation.

The Lady Tigers and Tigers have also produced an astonishing number of ACCC MVP's—6 on the women's side and 3 on the men's.  Other accolades in singles and doubles play include a combined 7 (5 women and 2 men) ITA Southeast or Southern JUCO Regional Singles Champions and 8 (4 men and 4 women) ITA Southeast or Southern JUCO Regional Doubles Champions.

Through the years, MMI's players have been stellar off the field as well, with many teams and players collecting Intercollegiate Tennis Association and National Junior College Athletic Association academic awards.

This year's members of the men's and women's tennis teams are very hardworking and talented individuals on the courts and in the classrooms.  Please support them by clicking on the following link:  MMI Tennis eTeamSponsor.  Thank you—and Go Tigers!
