ACCC Commissioner Meets with Marion's Student-Athletes

Monday afternoon the Alabama Community College Conference Commissioner, Dean Myrick, visited with the more than 115 MMI student-athletes as he makes his way around the state visiting all 21 two-college campuses.

Topics included the new ACCC Drug Education and Testing Policy as well as rules on amateurism and transfer guidelines.  Article XVIII of the NJCAA Handbook, Sportsmanship, was stressed to the group as the conference has dealt with a rising number of ejections, especially in the sport of baseball.

"I think the talk was very informative for our student-athletes and I'm glad the commissioner has made a conscious effort to meet with all of the schools this year," said Michelle Ivey, Marion's Director of Athletics.  "Dean did a great job relaying key information to our folks and stressing the importance of respecting others before, during, and after competition."

MMI is one of twenty-one two-year colleges that compete within the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) and Region 22 of the National Junior College Athletic Conference (NJCAA).
