MMI’s Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams Named 2018 ITA All-Academic Teams
Tempe, AZ—The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently released its ITA All-Academic Team awards and its list of ITA Scholar-Athletes. Marion Military Institute placed both its men's and women's teams on the All-Academic Team, and four players earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
In order to be recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, a team must achieve a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale) for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 semesters. The men's team recorded a 3.24 GPA, and the women's team posted a 3.39 GPA.
The following criteria must be met in order to be listed as an ITA Scholar-Athlete: 1) be a varsity letter winner, 2) have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale), and 3) have been enrolled at his or her present school for at least two semesters. Justin Matthews and Isaiah Polk achieved ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the men's team, while Makenzie Ralston and Karen Yan received the same distinction for the women's team.
