Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams Sweep Wallace State-Hanceville

Marion, AL—The Marion Military Institute men's and women's tennis teams swept Wallace State Community College-Hanceville on Sunday afternoon, posting winning scores of 6-3 in men's tennis and 9-0 in women's tennis.

The Tigers captured two points in doubles play with wins by Isaiah Polk and Barry Booth at No. 1 doubles (8-2) and Andrew Carey and Harrison Foster at No. 2 doubles (8-1).

Those same four players returned in singles play to pick up the remaining four points of the afternoon for the Tigers.

In a marathon match, Polk, at No. 1 singles, outlasted Cade Pressnell of Wallace State, 6-4, 7-6, in a match that would have pleased the Energizer Bunny.  Booth started off slowly in his match at No. 2 singles against Wallace State's Donny Camp but went on to score a 6-4, 6-2 win.  Carey (6-2, 6-3) and Foster (6-3, 6-2) closed out the scoring for MMI.

In the women's match, the Lady Tigers notched perfunctory wins at all nine flights in singles and doubles play to take a 9-0 win over the Lady Lions.

Paola Bou, Morgan Ingram, and Rebecca Lin didn't allow their opponents a game in their respective singles matches, while Makenzie Ralston, Alana Larcombe, and Makenzie Ralston allowed only seven games in their three matches combined.

The Lady Tigers go on the road to face Huntingdon College at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.   Both teams then travel to Mississippi to face Meridian Community College on Friday, March 3.  That match is scheduled to begin at noon.
