Paola Bou and Two Doubles Teams Reach Finals of ITA Regional for MMI

Meridian, MS—The Lady Tigers' Paola Bou and the doubles tandems of Bou/Alana Larcombe and Danny Boussom/Andrew Carey reached the finals of the 2016 ITA Southern Regional JUCO Tennis Championships on Friday afternoon at the Northeast Tennis Center.

Three of the four Lady Tigers in action in the singles quarterfinals made it to the semifinals.  In a quarterfinal match pitting two Lady Tigers against each other, Larcombe outlasted Morgan Ingram in a classic three-setter, 6-4, 2-6, 12-10.  Another close contest saw MMI's Makenzie Ralston prevail, 2-6, 6-3, 10-3, in a come-from-behind win over Meridian's Hayden Hill.  MMI's Bou handled Copiah-Lincoln's Gyselle Daza, 6-1, 6-0, to take her place in the semifinals.

In the semifinal round, Bou double-bageled fellow teammate Ralston, 6-0, 6-0, and Larcombe fell to the tournament's No. 1-seeded player, Mariana Alvarez from Hinds Community College, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-7.

In women's doubles, Bou and Larcombe breezed by Meridian's Hayden Hill and Katherine Mitchell, 8-0, and then took out the tournament's No. 1-seeded team from Hinds Community College, Mariana Alvarez and Stefy Varon, 8-3,

The remaining two men standing in the singles draw for Marion Military Institute—Danny Boussom and Barry Booth—were dispatched in the quarterfinals.  Boussom, the tournament's top seed, was dismissed, 6-3, 6-4, by Copiah-Lincoln's Juan Pablo Pinilla, and Barry Booth saved six match points before losing to Hinds' Daniel Yepez, 0-6, 6-4, 14-12.

In men's doubles, Boussom and Carey defeated Itawamba's Brendan Jobe and Christopher Shands, 8-1, and Mississippi Gulf Coast's John Teague Murphy and Noah Rowell, 8-4, to claim their spot in the final.
